Fiona Wiebusch

Co-Founder & Director of Teacher Development

Fiona is a seasoned teacher development specialist with over 25 years of experience in language education and training. She has spearheaded numerous professional development initiatives across 17 countries and possesses extensive expertise in education management. Fiona held Academic Management positions, overseeing teacher education programs at RMIT University Vietnam, and the University of Queensland’s Institute of Continuing and TESOL Education (ICTE) for nearly a decade.

With a background in adult language education spanning New Zealand, Japan, and Vietnam, Fiona has also collaborated with universities and Ministries of Education in China, Chile, Kiribati, Taiwan, Vietnam, and Japan. She has been a featured speaker at international education conferences worldwide, including events in Australia, New Zealand, the UK, the USA, China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, the United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, Chile, Cambodia, and Vietnam.

During her tenure in Vietnam, Fiona served as the founding Committee Chair of the TESOL Talks professional development project in Ho Chi Minh City. From 2012 to 2014, this initiative brought together resources from Australian institutions and local universities to organise free, quarterly professional development events for English Language teachers across Vietnam. Teacher Talks continues to thrive, now under the management of RMIT University, Vietnam.

Beyond her professional commitments, Fiona loves exploring Queensland's coastline and vibrant café culture with family and friends. She is a passionate ukulele learner, and a member of the Production Teams for the Raise your Voice Choir Festival and ‘UQ Voices’ choir. The choir’s mission is to foster a sense of belonging on campus for international students, with the support of the School of Psychology at The University of Queensland and Allianz Care Australia.
